In the years after the Second World War, the world was quite aware about the pain and despair closed borders mean for people who flee their homes. Aware, that in many cases, closed borders mean certain death. Aware that no prejudice or hate or racism in the world should justify to deny a person the right to find safety.

That is why the Geneva Refugee Convention spells out the key obligations of states towards refugees. It defines who is a refugee and…

As the Greek investigation group Rosa has reported, a disabled transgender woman named only as T. has tragically only experienced more trauma, after reaching Greek territory from Turkey:

“The men in uniform who found her on the Greek side of the border, instead of following the procedures provided for by European legislation and the country’s commitments to international treaties, kidnapped her and hid her in the back of a truck…”

The initiative #Justice_For_T is calling for official answers from the responsible authorities, and demands justice for what has happened to her.

We cannot tell you their names, background stories, their hopes, life goals, family situation, obstacles they faced trying to live decent lives, what they sacrificed so they could try and escape them, nor how they felt in this…

This year so far over 2000 people have died trying to get to Spain, the same figure that died in the entirety of 2020. This is an increase of 526%. 12,622 people survived the crossing only to be met by diabolical conditions and often deportation. In response to the high level of harm caused, Caravana Abriendo Fronteres organised a week of protest to make visible, denounce and combat migration policies.
