Fortress Europe closes the gates

Statewatch report that ‘migrant smuggling’ has been put to the top of EU crime priorities, as a restricted document which shows the extent of police operations, has been exposed. The prevention of ‘immigrants with no legal rights’ (there is no mention of refugees) arriving in the EU has been placed as more important than fighting terrorism and online child pornography. The next cycle covers 2018 to 2021 and the document contains details of their planned actions. Some of the most concerning points are contained below.

Local media report that a German regional court has granted asylum to an Afghan ex-soldier, thus revoking the findings of a local court.

Belgium

Serve the city Brussels make and serve breakfast every Monday and Tuesday at Parc Maximilien. From 6:30am till 8am they provide coffee, tea, some pastries and warm conversations. If you can help out contact them through their facebook page.

France

FAST (First Aid Support Team) are working in Calais and Dunkirk and need medical supplies — Ibuprofen gel, Olbas oil, strepsils, ear drops, anti-histamines, antacid tablets, lip sore cream, vitamins, Lemsip, saline pods (10ml), betadine, athlete’s foot / daktarin / miconazol cream, scabies cream, cotton balls, compression bandages, steristrips.

Denmark

There are currently 28 refugees on hunger strike which began on October 11th outside the controversial Deportation Centre Kærshovedgård. All the hunger strikers have had their asylum rejected but for individual reasons they can also not be deported. They are trapped in prison-like conditions in Denmark with no clear end date or process. The strikers and their demands have the support of a broad range of organisations, amongst them The Danish Helsinki Komitee for Human Rights and Amnesty International.
